Email client settings (e.g. Mac Mail, Microsoft Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird etc)
Note: All Standard & Premium Mailboxes are Pop and IMAP enabled by default. Which protocol you use is determined by the settings you select in your email client (e.g. Mac Mail, Microsoft Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird etc).
Once you’ve created a mailbox in your VARiHOST Hosting Control Panel, you can use the following details to setup the new email account to send/receive/manage email in your email program. Please allow at least one hour after creating a new mailbox, for it to be fully functional.
The format of credentials required is:
SMTP
Outgoing Mail Server: mta.extendcp.co.uk
Outgoing Mail Server Port: 587
Outgoing Mail Server SSL: STARTTLS
Outgoing Authentication Type: Password
POP3
Incoming POP3 Server: pop3.extendcp.co.uk
Incoming POP3 Server Port: 995
Incoming POP3 SSL: SSL/TLS
Incoming POP3 Authentication Type: Password
IMAP
This option must be selected in the email client account selection options
Incoming IMAP Server: imap.extendcp.co.uk
Incoming IMAP Server Port: 993
Incoming IMAP SSL: SSL/TLS
Incoming IMAP Authentication Type: Password
Username: you@yourdomain.co.uk
Password: your email password
* Please replace instances of ‘yourdomain.co.uk’ with your own account domain name.
** Outgoing SMTP server requires authentication to send mail. This option needs to be selected when configuring your email client (i.e. Outlook, Thuderbird etc). The same authentication settings are used as per the incoming (POP) mail server (Username and password).
*** We recommend using STARTTLS encryption. You may be asked to add a 'security exception' in your email client settings. Agree to this.
**** Standard/Default SMTP port is 587.
